Title: Evolutions Vol 3 EP
Label: Blackout Music NL
Released: Out Now!
Genre: Drum & Bass
It is always nice to break away from the four to the floor sounds in the promo inbox, and this release certainly grabbed my attention. Blackout Music NL present the third volume of their well received ‘Evolutions’ series and it is easy to see why this series has grabbed the attention of many DJs and Drum & Bass lovers out there.
First up on this five track release is ‘Closely’ by Proxima. The track starts off with a deep swelling sci-fi like melody that soon breaks into some rather deep and warped electronic vibes before they build into some incredible drums. It is more on the Dubstep tip which I am normally not a huge fan of but it is certainly a good opener.
Next up is ‘Indoor Space’ by Gydra. From the off you know this is going to be on the insane side of things with a frantic melody and simply “off the chart” build! Lots of aggressive stabs that I love hearing in Drum and Bass tracks. This is a track that packs a huge punch and one that would send any dancefloor into absolute carnage!
The third track is ‘End of The Line’ by Merikan which begins by teasing the listener and very quickly building the pace from what is an almost breaks like intro. It isn’t long before the savagery begins and the insane drum rolls and rhythms are hitting you like a five minute frantic round in the ring with Conor McGregor. The break on this sees a few movie-like samples, and the build after the break is just nuts! Love it!!!
The next track sees the Serbian duo, Splash Heads team up with the French hardcore producer, The Clamps on the track ‘Useless’. As you can imagine this track takes no prisoners. Great use of samples with this track that fill and swell in the track to give it that little more energy (not that it needs any more)! Peak time aggressive Drum & Bass here!
The final track on the release is probably my favourite but only because I tend to swerve to more liquid sounds. This is far from Liquid Drum & Bass by the way!!! The track is ‘Sublimation’ by Cod3x and it is certainly a great way to end the EP. Again lots of energy and a great pulsating bassline that growls away throughout. Top track!
