Genre: Deep/Tech House
DJ and production duo Adrian Schweizer and Adrian Shala, aka Adriatique hail from Switzerland. The pair released some sublime cuts of deepness last year including the likes of ‘Lophobia’, ‘Mrcreasy’, and ‘Space Nights’ so I was expecting more of the same…
First up we have the title track ‘Rollox’ which is a lovely tech house work out that has a superb growling bassline and groove to it. You may have heard the vocal sample a fair few times, as it is taken from a well-known Cevin Fisher track. The track almost borders on that proggy sound. One I recommend you check out.
Next up we have ‘Numb’ which is my personal favourite on the release. This track is a beautiful dark journey through intricate keys and luscious percussion. If you like your deep, intelligent journey music, then this is for you, I cannot speak highly enough of this track. Oh and the break just makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end… Superb!
The final track on the release is ‘Ion’ which is in a similar vein to ‘Numb’, a journey track that just makes you want to listen to this track again and again. The break is simply sumptuous, and when the track kicks it fills with dark keys and some lovely other worldly sounds that lift you to a devilishly dark and emotive place.
Adriatique crept up on me in terms of productions last year, and I have since played every single one of their releases to within an inch of their lives. The duo is up there with the likes of David August in my opinion for producing incredible emotional music. If you don’t know who these guys are, you need to stop buying the wrong music!
