Artist: Harvey McKay
Title: Amen EP
Label: Bedrock
Cat No: Beddigi56
Release Date: Out Now!
Genre: Techno
Next up on the faultless Bedrock imprint we have a man that emerged from the underground techno scene in Glasgow. Harvey McKay has been causing waves in the scene for some time, and has now established himself amongst those techno producers that John Digweed turns to. Harvey has already had a couple of releases on Bedrock with โPhone Freakerโ and his collaboration with Carlo Lio, โDroid Decayโ
First up on the release is the title track โAmenโ which, as you might expect from this man, is a full on pounding techno groove that takes no prisoners. The track is filled with some awesome percussion, and the drums are just savage. The track has a relentless energy that is created by some well effected hi hats and a great rolling drum sound. Superb track for those late night stompathons!
The second track on the EP is โCry Wolfโ which is very much of the same ilk as the first track. The track features a couple of vocal snippets that are used to great effect, and almost create that Chicago house sound but with bags of techno energy. Superb track and one I can imagine featuring in a number of Digweedโs sets to change the mood and pace, as he does so well!
Great release here again on Bedrock and one that I am sure the techno fraternity will welcome with open arms. Very well produced, strong release here from Harvey. Scotland is such a hotbed of quality techno, and has been for some time. Go check it out folks!
