What is it Hardware sequencer for Native Instrument Traktor. Who is it for Any DJ that wants to bring in a more live element to their set using Traktor. The Midi Fighter Twister is the latest model of American DJ blog and online DJ equipment store DJ Tech Tools. The first model of the Midi Fighter was released a few years ago and was marketed for the ‘finger drumming’ DJs and was instantly a big success. The Midi Fighter Twister is a more complex model not designed for finger drumming but instead it uses a built in step sequencer to trigger samples in one of the Traktor Remix Decks. The intention is to fill the Remix Deck with one shot samples that you trigger insync with your playing tracks to create additional beats or simply create a track live as a crossover between tracks. Unpacking and setup The Midi Fighter Twister ships in a snug box with ample protection and comes with one of the DJTT’s curved USB cables (which is great and dont require much space on the back of the unit). The MFT is solid in weight and the build quality is very solid with a metal base and thick rubber sides and big rubber feets that make it sit properly on the table. The MFT has 16 DJTT chroma caps that feel very solid and are made to take a lot of beating. Each rotary knob has 11 LED lights for showing selected pattern and a RGB LED status indicator. Setting it up is a breeze and I was up and running in a couple of minutes. DJTT’s free MF utility allows you to update the unit to latest firmware, something the program does automatically when it detects that a new firmware is available online. You can also use this program to create your own MIDI mappings if you want to reprogram the unit for other functionality or to use it with any MIDI capable DAW….
