Release: Out Now!
Genre: Deep House
Swedish House sensations Bambook have teamed up with the momentous Javier Orduna to bring us their monumental new EP ‘Paloma’, out now on the fabulous Culprit LA. The EP features 2 delightfully different original mixes and also a remix containing the thrilling sounds of Quina, who is on duty for ‘Paloma’, and we also have a standout remix from Eduardo De La Calle.
Melodies from various sources combine into stunning progressions in the original mix of ‘Paloma’. The glistening high frequencies are spread around the stereo spectrum in conjunction with a wide vocal to give an open and spacious feel, whilst the plucky bass which has a delay scattered across the mids makes up the central body with that punchy kick. This is certainly something different for the underground to enjoy. Bambook & Javier have really combined their spectacular skill.
Quina’s remix takes on a super deep and hypnotic persona that does the job of making us swat to the rhythm. Wide synths provide a delightful mid-band warmth and give off a dark, melancholic vibe in conjunction with the other deep and mysterious elements. The vocals are twisted up to offer something different each time the arrive. This is a special version of ‘Paloma’ from Quina and one that the Progressive heads will enjoy thoroughly. Eduardo De La Calle’s remix, on the other hand, takes on a glitchy early Techno persona with the main pulsating melody adding a really strange vibe in the background. This remix would do a great job of warming the crowd for the night of mayhem that lay ahead.
‘Burundanga’ grabs our attention straight away with a fascinating and funky opening. Bambook & Javier Orduna have once again provided us with something of serious interest. The looping bass is simple, but it adopts a fierce energy until stabby chord progressions are introduced which add a layer of emotional content. This is a beautiful remix that is completely unique and gripping. Top marks once again!
