In a rare and unusual press statement today, Beatport; the all ominous and genre misplacing depositor of bad music, has come out swinging over various articles attacking the SFX owned company, over recent allegations of chart rigging by PR firms and labels. Beatport has announced they will be banning labels who are caught, but is this really just a bandaid solution, should they name and shame the offenders? There is no one size fits all solution to people trying to buy likes, weasel their way into the industry and take short cuts, but this is a start. One only hopes they sort their genres out soon!

Cheating is as destructive a vice as there is. Success won legitimately and organically is far sweeter than taking any shortcut, no matter how tempting, easy or anonymous it may seem at the time. Those trying to cheat are being watched…not only by us, but by the entire community.
