Anja Schneider blew everyone away with her incredible album ‘SoMe’ on her very own Sous Music imprint late last year. The pioneering artist gave everyone a taste of her incredible diversity when it comes to music production, with tracks ranging from deep rhythmic House to energetic, driven Techno. This time around we three remixes of great variety from Billy Turner, Butch, and Argy.
Billy Turner gets the EP underway with a ferocious Techno hit in his remix of ‘Shadows’. The thick, gritty synths give off a spectacular character and are aligned with a nice drifting reverb. The low end is made up of a pulsing energy whilst the high-end flutters between tight top lines and modulating effects. This is a full-on, main hour Techno monster.
Butch’s remix of ‘All I See’, on the other hand, provides a delightfully rhythmic and soulful Tech track. This is one of those tracks that just initiates involuntary body movement. The remix is made up of pure funk from the bassline to the Garage inspired drum pattern, everything just works. Butch has crafted a fantastic record here and provided something very different indeed.
Argy’s remix of ‘Got Me With A Bang’ is probably my personal favourite here. There are certainly a lot of influences to be heard throughout this remix. A trancey and acidy pattern makes up the low groove which keeps us pumped, whilst various analog synths fill the spectrum with melodic chimes. There is pure classic trance nostalgia packed into this remix, Argy has done a fantastic job.
