BLANCAh set to release ‘Cold Lights’ on Renaissance

Following the success of their celebrated ‘The ReMix Collection Series’, Renaissance Records return to the original singles arena with a stunning release from an exciting talent, Brazil’s BLANCAh, who unveils the magical ‘Cold Lights’ on 19 July.

Resident DJ at the incomparable Warung Beach Club, BLANCAh has cut her teeth DJing alongside the world’s best, including Amê, Tale Of Us, Guy Gerber, HOSH and Hernan Cattaneo to name but a few. More recently, in May, BLANCAh joined the mighty Solomun at Renaissance’s sold-out Birmingham show to critical acclaim. Now, she firmly underscores why she’s as equally at home in the studio with this fitting tribute to the heat of South American nights.

‘Cold Lights’ builds beautifully, featuring BLANCAh’s own ethereal vocals – the perfect foil for the dark, intense beats. Recorded in Brazil on one of the hottest nights of the year, the lyrics were born as BLANCAh took a walk outside to get some fresh air and clear her head. As BLANCAh explains, “I was inspired by the way the lights appeared cold in the heat of the night; to musically capture this contrast I set softer melodic parts, such as strings and my own voice, to drums and percussion with real dance floor power.”

Renaissance’s Geoff Oakes says: “BLANCAh is a special talent and it’s easy to see why she’s emerging on a global stage. We needed a unique artist and track to mark our return to releasing original material and ’Cold Lights’ achieves that goal. We’re incredibly excited to have her on-board with this prelude to a full artist album, which we’ll be dropping later in the year. ‘Cold Lights’ really is just the beginning!”
