One Records return with one of their self-confessed ‘best signings’, the enthralling deep sounds of Bobby O’Donnell, whose steady rise is one of major interest in 2017. Not only do we have 2 originals which you would call ‘proper Deep House’, but we also have a mega remix from the fantastic John Dimas to sink our teeth into.
‘E211’ launches the EP in spectacular fashion. This is the Deep House the underground craves and cries out for. A wonderful analog feel that reaches from the depths of the thumping 909 to the pulsing mids and swinging hats. There is certainly a lot of musical content to bring the track alive and the gigantic pads add that intriguing tone. We can certainly hear why One Records would label this as one of their best signings to date.
John Dimas’ ‘Pulsar Mix’ of ‘E211’ is a totally different vibe to what came before. John has gone for a creative break-beat style drum pattern here, whilst still utilizing the lovely, Deep vibes of the original. He has managed to turn some elements, including those lush warm pads and vocal chops, into a massive ambiance which glues together all the other elements and blends them into a wonderful record.
We finish up on Bobby’s second original on the release, ‘E131’, which once again falls into the category of Deep House we all adore. The fast paced bassline with a super short decay irradiates fierce energy whilst a vocal like effect pumps away in the background, providing a nice floor. The shuffled hats and percussion are enough to make us dance on their own, but when lined up with the other channels, we have something that is seriously on fire! One Records strike again!
