Title: Our Story EP
Release: 10th October 2016
Genre: Progressive House/Electronic
Petar Suskic from Stockholm gets a nice first appearance on Belgian label, Reworck founded by none other than Pole Folder. The man needs no introduction and a musician who has stamped his authority on dance music for years, and successfully so.
Bonaca makes good with his title track called ‘Our Story’ which flows upwards, straight into the air. The melodic content reach, reach, reach until you’re nearly ready to dive into the track yourself and push them where they so obviously want to go. This sort of unresolved tension is where Bonaca excels. You’re either hanging on to the edge of your seat or hanging on to your dancing partner waiting for the hit. All the electronics within are encased by a cutesy bass, pulsing interiors, and vacuous trimmings, all which take over in one big crescendo at the back end. Beautifully crafted stuff for a debut.
Croatian artist, Petar Dundov rears his star-studded head in the EP with the lone rework which is a shiny example of the groove being paramount. The instruments locked into a build that only rarely gets extinguished, only to be built up again. The tingling interiors meet with a growly bass line swirling about permeating, drowning everything in its way. Dundov owns the original like no other and delivers pulsing strings and keys atop sleek, mechanical rhythms. This particular EP creates glowing bits of soul and then simply lets them run their course. Both producers have brought us a classicist’s dream.
