Clarian creates more wondrous soundscapes with his latest EP on Culprit

Artist: Clarian
Title: Derail The Reptile Revolution EP
Label: Culprit LA
Release: Out Now!
Genre: Electronic

Clarian has developed a sound that provokes thought and wonder throughout. Even the titles of his records conjure images of other-worldly understanding. His fresh off the line EP ‘Derail The Reptile Revolution’ comes to LA based label and home of some of the world’s brightest stars, Culprit LA.

‘Cosmic Microwave’ radiates electromagnetic energy. These energised particles zap through the sound barrier, vibrating the airwaves into super hot particles before combining together to form an atomically charged gem from Clarian. The warm hum and analogue grit he is renowned for bears its teeth. Dynamic pads arranged in beautiful progressions fit perfectly with the strange bassline to bring us a truly emotional piece of music. The unique sounding drums of ‘Bleach’ really caught our attention. Everything sounds absolutely perfect in tandem whilst the imperfections gift us with a lovely character. It isn’t often you hear an acid track that contains such fascinating chord progressions and melodic pieces, great work!

‘Acid Moon’ is quite slow and the melodies relaxing. There is a wonderful tranquillity to be found throughout. The massive ambience builds until it slams with a serious 303 crescendo. ‘Surfer Moon’, on the other hand, perks up straight off the bat. The high paced 303 that features this time adds to that cosmic energy. Again, the magical and characterful ambience is outstanding. Clarian is truly a master of his craft. In Clarian’s attempt to ‘Derail The Reptile Revolution’, he has inadvertently created a super cool, retro sounding mind twister. The breakbeat style drum line accompanies sweet, bubbly synths, huge saw waves and, of course, a driving 303. Atmospheric bells and vocals draw us in and complete what is one of the most interesting EPs I have heard in a long time.
