CODA celebrates 4th Anniversary with Format:B and Honey Dijon

It’s hard to believe that it was 4 years ago when Toronto’s beloved Footwork family re-opened their doors at 794 Bathurst Street as Toronto’s new dance floor haven: CODA. Since then, CODA has hosted many of dance music’s biggest names with countless once-in-a-lifetime performances! Guests will never forget that smooth, magical journey with Dixon or the incredibly passionate anniversary set by Laurent Garnier. And nothing will ever trump the miraculous open-close by Papa Sven! Toronto’s underground community has much to thank CODA for and what better way to say “thank-you” than with a good dance party? On Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3, join us as we celebrate 4 years strong with Berlin’s funky, techno duo Format:B and Chicago House veteran Honey Dijon. It’s time to raise a glass and bust a move in honour of our city’s music safe house!

CODA Partner Joel Smye says:

“Four years in our new home has flown by in an unbelievable way. Since our move from Footwork there’s been a great evolution in the Toronto scene and we’re thrilled to be a part of it. So much heart and soul, so many vibes and tribes, all coming through every weekend keeps us motivated to constantly be improving our home, continuously trying to tweak every detail. Time seemingly stands still over these years with so many artists and supporters inspiring us to master our craft and find ways to do better. It’s ever-evolving and we’re more excited now than ever to dig into chapter 4 with headline acts Format:B and Honey Dijon.

Format:B has been our of our favourite acts for years so it was a perfect pairing to get the energy started for our anniversary weekend. They’re flawless live! And what more can be said about the legend herself Honey Dijon! She graced the cover of Mixmag recently, made pretty much every credible list as one to watch (though Toronto has known this for 20 years already!) and plays regularly at Berghain/Panorama in Berlin- the Holy Grail of nightlife culture around the world. When she gets a hold of a room, no one leaves the dancefloor. I can say without hesitation her game is as good as anyone doing it now or ever. We’re blessed to have her back pulling an all night long (7hr) performance for round 2 of our anniversary celebrations!!

Thanks everyone for the love and support…Looking forward to making many more outrageous memories in the years to come! xx”

Kicking off the anniversary celebrations on Friday, February 2, CODA welcomes a duo from Berlin, whose combined musical backgrounds reach far beyond the electronic world. Franziskus Sell and Jakob Hildenbrand known as Format:B share a vibrant history with music; Jakob started out playing bass guitar in jazz and funk bands, while Franziskus was mastering classical piano lessons. When the pair were struck by the virus known as electronic music in the mid 90’s, the project Format:B began their journey towards becoming one of Germany’s most successful electronic acts. CODA is thrilled to have them inside the booth to curate the birthday beats for part 1 of their celebratory weekend!
