Copy Paste Soul returns with a new EP entitled ‘The Fall EP’ on his new label 2 Swords. This is the second release on his label, the first being ‘Like This’, which was released in June this year. Copy Paste Soul has already gained support from some of dance music elite including Pete Tong, Art Department, Huxley and Ewan Pearson.
First up on the EP we have the title track ‘The Fall’. This is a straight up house affair filled with lush melodies and a low pitched vocals that really do bring the track to life. I like how the track is also filled with old-school like stabs, and don’t even get me started on the lush strings that weave in and out of the track. Big track and one I recommend. If you like the sounds of Huxley and George Fitzgerald you will like this I am sure.
Next up we have the second original track from Copy Paste Soul, ‘The Reverend’. The track begins with a simple clipped kick and warm keys. When the track first breaks it does pick up pace nicely and has an almost Jazz like vibe to the track. I particularly like the double kicks in places. You are soon presented with a preacher style vocal which I must admit I am never really a big fan of, as they normally sound the same. However when the bass hook and percussion kicks in you know it has some substance. Nice track and very well constructed.
We complete the EP with a remix of ‘The Fall’ by none other than French legend Laurent Garnier. Straight form the off you know this is going to be a groove laden treat for your ears. Some great bass pads here and, as always, well thought out percussion. The man really does take the original to a whole other level here and does so over a rather special nine minutes. If you like your Garnier remixes you will like this, as it really is a musical journey and one I certainly enjoyed.
Superb package here and one for everyone from house to techno lovers. You probably know what I am going to say but my choice here is the Garnier remix but don’t get me wrong, the two originals are both very good tracks and ones that will see a lot of airtime in clubs I am sure. Go check this out folks.
