Crate digging with Andrew Wowk – September

Our in-house selector Andrew Wowk takes us through his top 10 tracks for September

#1. Denise Rabe – Lucy’s Dream [RABE]
Brutal broken beat techno with a huge, growling bassline.

#2. Bliss Signal – Bliss Signal [True Panther Sounds/Profound Lore]
Mumdance and James Kelly (Wife/Altar of Plagues) team up for a unique collaboration that fuses black metal with powerful electronics and beautiful atmospherics.

#3. Earth Boys – Memory of 95 [Public Release US]
An aptly titled homage to mid-90’s house, complete with a killer sax solo and warm Rhodes chords.

#4. Earth Trax & Newborn Jr. – Paradox [Spectral Sound]
Taken from the Spectral 139 compilation, this is a great example of utilising melody in a darker, more hypnotic way.

#5. Cutoff!Cutoff! – Forced Stillness [RSNTR]
Grinding, industrial beats pound away underneath twisted effects and eerie sound design.

#6. Tommy Holohan – Fairy Cakes [Haven]
If you were a hardcore raver in the 90’s, then this is the throwback jam for you. Amen breaks, hoovers, and a rumbling bassline – all the ingredients for a good time.

#7. Ron Morelli – Laugh Taker [Hospital Productions]
Distorted, chopped-up vocals, grinding percussion and thumping sub bass come together for a leftfield – but dancefloor ready – chunk of techno.

#8. Yulia Niko – Casa En El Agua [Rebellion]
Deep, rolling tribal house that balances subtlety with punch.

#9. Demuir – How Beautiful You Are [Music For Freaks]
Bassline-driven tech house with a gritty groove, rumbling bassline, and killer organic percussion samples.

#10. Infiniti – Flash Flood (2018 Version) [Life’s Good]
A hitherto unreleased version of Juan Atkins’ seminal Detroit techno classic sees the light of day, remastered by the talented Rashad Becker.
