Decks and the City steps inside the nightlife and electronic music scene to uncover a cast of DJ’s, Producers and Nightclub owners with a passion and a love of music, that keeps them inside DJ booths and on dance floors until the wee hours of the morning.
That is, until the introduction of lockout laws across Australia. From the bedroom DJ, to the internationally touring producer, this film showcases the sights and sounds from inside the walls of Adelaide’s nightclubs and explores the music and the culture of the electronic music scene.
With a soundtrack of multi-genre artists that weaves and flows like a DJ set, the film shows how an industry can come together when they all share the same passion.
What the punters said:
“Still feeling lost for words after seeing this last night.. but the first few words that come to mind are dedication and phenomenal to say the least.”
“I don’t think a film or a documentary has ever evoked so much raw emotion out of me, or has had me engaged on the edge of my seat from the very beginning, right through to the end credits.”
“I saw the film last night and would recommend it to anyone who’s passionate about music, particularly dance music. I knew little about the genre beforehand, or about the scene in Adelaide, but I feel educated now. Please go out and see this film when you can – it’s a well-made document of our beautiful city, and features some very talented musicians/DJs/Producers”.
