Decoded Magazine turns one today and we just wanted to say thank you

Did you know it is our 1st Birthday today? Nope? Well it is and it has been such a fun (and stressful at times) ride to get here. A lot has happened since we rebranded from our former guise of This Is Progressive (in our own admission, was a tiny backwater blog that failed to impress) to a full time operation, spanning across Europe and recently our North American site with 55 amazing writers who are talented, funny and considered by us, close friends. (We can’t thank them enough, but secretly jealous of our writers in Ibiza this season)

Since then, we have published over 1500 articles, including industry news, countless tech articles and reviews, we have lost count on how many music reviews, throw in a some critical and in depth articles tackling depression in the music industry, to copyright laws pieces along with over 90 mixes from around the world with some amazing underground House, Techno, Breaks, progressive House, Drum & Bass and more.

Over the last year, we have been fortunate to also run a few little parties here and there plus support some amazing promoters around the world. They include Hernan Cattaneo at Panama Nightclub in Amsterdam and in Mauritius, Guy J in Montenegro and in Mauritius, Darin Epsilon and Jadee with C-Jay ADE official closing party, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren boat party at WMC, A Guy Called Gerald in Mumbai, Dave Clarke, Andy Weatherall, Billy Nasty in Liverpool, Josh Wink in Alkmaar (Netherlands) Dave Seaman, Thermal Bear, Steve Parry and Ian Oassia in Leeds, Maceo Plex at Monegros Festival with B-at-tv, Todd Terry and Terrence Parker at Kingsday Holland, Darren Emerson in London to Jeremy Olander, Magda, Uner and Nora en Pure in Mumbai – not bad huh? (pretty sure we left a few out, oops)

Our humble radio show has grown from one station to 20 syndicated FM and Digital stations (hosted by the lovably Ian Dillon) globally each fortnight with past guest as Toolroom Records with Matt Smallwood, Groovant Records with Ant Brooks, Circle Music with Alex Flatner, Selador Records with Robert Babicz, Natura Sonis with Henry Saiz, Off Recordings with Andre Crom, BPitch Control Records with Kiki, Super Freq with Mr C, Krafted Group with Paul Sawyer, Rejected with Edwin Oosterwal, Gabriel & Dresden and many more, plus stay tuned for new stations to be added soon.

In such a short time, we have almost reached 1 million unique site visitors (we are hoping balloons will drop from the ceiling when it happens), hit over 5 Million (organic – that means we never paid for a thing, nor did we use clickbaiting) social reach and made some great friendships (which may have resulted in a few hangovers). Of course none of this is possible without the support of the music industry, from Promoters, Clubs, Labels, PR agents, Distributors, DJs, Producers and of course YOU! We would list everyone, but some cold drinks awaiting us – you know who you are.

So where too now? To celebrate and give something back to the industry, we will be launching a ‘Mix of the Month’ starting Friday 3rd of July, where any DJ can submit their one hour mix (as many times as they want during the year) and the winner will receive a full featured interview and featured guest mix. Don’t worry, this won’t be a popularity contest, we are looking for passionate DJs who show technical skills, professionalism, do not play the latest Beatport top 100 or anything EDM and a love of all things underground. It is the least we can do.

Want more? we are shaking up our North American site and will be heavily focusing on Indie electronic music, live electronic acts, lifestyle, festivals, travel, our own showcase events across the US and Canada and of course underground music. We think it is the way of the future and hope you can join the journey.

We have teamed up with one of our favourite graphic designers to release a series of limited edition t-shirts, hats and hoodies (when it gets colder) deliverable anywhere in the world. Each run will only be for 10 weeks and we think it is a little nicer than just a shirt with our logo. Stay tuned next week to see them stocked on our site.

We are in the final stages of being able to release information about some amazing events with some equally amazing international artists. We wish we could say more, but I guess we can keep you in suspense for a little longer.

Lastly, we have finally opened our website for advertising. Naturally we wanted to do it sooner, but we also felt we wanted to prove ourselves first to the industry and you. As a 1st birthday celebration, we have some great packages and contact our Editor Damion Pell for more information at damion@decodedmagazine.com

That is all from us, there will be some major news announced in a few weeks, but will keep that under our hats for now. Once again, we thank you for all your support, kind words and here is to many more years to come.

See you on the dancefloor!
