Decoded Sundays – Zoe Belucci

A passionate performer, who lives and breathes her music, Zoe Belucci is a Devon born, London based singer, producer and DJ whose vocal range is as diverse as her background. Zoe started her music career at the age of 13 with travelling performing arts group All Stars Academy, who toured the UK and America. On her return from the States, Zoe completed a National Diploma in Music Performance and Production. Shortly after she met talented guitarist Tim Steer who previously played with Tito Jackson and they became Shade Valley.

Their unique blend of acoustic jazz, influenced by their fascination with 60’s culture soon caught the attention of promoters further afield, with the duo completing two successful tours of acoustic venues around the UK and releasing two sell out albums on Unit One Six Recordings in 2005 and 2006. It was in 2007 that Zoe decided to make the jump from Devon to London to be closer to the vibrant clubbing scene she had a taste of while touring.

It was around this time that she discovered a new love for house music and ended up spending her student loan on second hand DJ equipment and a load of vinyl, and got to work on perfecting her mixing skills. Zoe performed regular live vocal PA’s for Code, a monthly night in Soho with DJ Blueless of Capture Records, and shortly after started work as a session vocalist. By 2008 a proficient vinyl DJ, Zoe became a resident at Funktion at The Light Bar, Shoreditch, Love Tec (Pacha and The Whitehouse) and Notting Hill Arts Club spinning her soulful, deep melodic beats.

In 2011, Zoe met infamous DJ and producer Justin Ballard (Fabric, Cross, Bargrooves) and they started to collaborate from his studio. It was with Justin that Zoe learnt to create her own tracks and discovered her new calling, music production. Inspired by several trips to Ibiza, she soon discovered that heart truly lies with the Balearic vibe; creating her own sparkling blend of jazz, ambient and house influences which enable her to stand out from the crowd. Two of Zoe’s tracks ‘Barcelona’ and ‘Wonderful South’ were snapped up by Italian label Bacci Bros and featured on their 2013 Nuova compilation CD. Zoe & Justin launched Chromoza Recordings, which has gone from strength to strength in the industry, releasing several EP’s including one from Paradise 45 that hit Cool Cuts chart at New Entry No. 16. Now 2 years old, the label grows with every release and to celebrate their birthday, they have a party organised with D.Ramirez headlining in a few weeks time.
