Doomwork – Life Elements

Artist: Doomwork
Title: Life Elements
Label: Sudbeat
Cat No: SB055
Genre: House/Progressive
Released: 15/09/2014

Italian Duo, Doomwork have been very busy since they formed in 2008. They have had releases featured on labels such as Cocoon, Get Physical, Tronic, and Bedrock, as well as being supported by the likes of Sasha, Nick Warren, John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo.

This release features five sumptuous tracks that will dazzle and make you feel all warm inside. First up is the title track ‘Life Element’ which is a superb piece of tribal house that has a slight proggy edge too. The track is filled with some great percussion that reminds me of those early Steve Lawler sets. It has a great groove and some warm, rather inviting keys, that really do lift the track to another level. One that will shake the dance floor for sure.

Next up we have ‘Elytra’ which is a little less on the percussive side but when those keys kick in you known this track is going to be a little gem. Filled with a rather joyful and deep sounding progressive edge, it will warm you like a heated blanket on a cold day. Think early Sasha stuff and you won’t be far off the mark here.

The third track on this rather special EP is ‘Mediterraneo’. The track begins with some rather deep, mouth-watering sounds, and would be great for a cheeky intro track. Like the last track this is beautifully deep and mind altering in its sound. Sublime work here again from the Italian duo!

The next track is ‘Favourite Pain’ which has an almost Balearic sound to it. Filled with some sublime warm pads and an almost hypnotising vibe you know this is going to be a beautiful journey. I just adore those chord strikes on the guitar that are used. You need to hear this, pure class!

To finish up this superb EP we have ‘Sci Fi’ which picks up the pace a little from the last couple of tracks. This track is filled with a superb harmony that blew me away when I first heard it. Expect the likes of Warren, Sasha and Digweed to be hammering this for a little while. This is one of those great journey tracks. Great groove and sublime, warm, alluring melodies that simply lift you to an almost otherworldly place.

In summary, go and buy this now… Thank you!
