EMC Festival Announced

EMC Festival has announced a taste of the action-packed program of parties, showcases and cinematic experiences which will set the Sydney scene alight this November 14 – 17. With more events and parties to be announced in the coming weeks, EMC Festival shines a spotlight on Australian electronic music talent as they share the stage with international artists and celebrate the genre at large.

Curated by Dave Ruby Howe, (triple j Unearthed Music Director) EMC LIVE showcases the abundance of electronic music talent in Australia, to the rest of the world. Join international movers, shakers, bookers and buyers from the industry as they descend on Sydney to experience Australia’s most exciting next-generation artists.

We already knew that Australia was punching above its weight when it comes to producing quality electronic artists but this year’s crop of EMC LIVE applicants proves that we’re not slowing down the manufacturing belt anytime soon.”

Disco Confessions: John Morales A Life In the Mix – Thursday 14 November
Golden Age Cinema, Surry Hills

Coming exclusively to Golden Age Cinema just weeks after its world premiere in London, this documentary from Javi Senz (Manchester Keeps Dancing) follows John Morales, the bonafide dance music legend as he reveals tales from sixty years in the biz. Responsible for more than 700 mixes during the ‘70s and ‘80s and still going strong, the likes of Jocelyn Brown, Marvin Gaye and Margie Joseph have benefitted from his midas-touch studio talents. In Disco Confessions he’s joined by collaborators and contemporaries including Louie Vega, DJ Spen, Kenny Dope, Joey Negro and Todd Terry.

New Age Noise – Friday 15 November
Knox St Bar, Chippendale

The Paramatta-based, artist-led label and booking agency returns and will host an end of year showcase and announce the launch of a forthcoming compilation album.

Switched On Music! Presents The Love House – Friday 15 November
Tatler, Darlinghurst

Johnny Gleeson, Romy Black, Tony Garcia and The Legendary Liam Sampras will take to the decks to mark the official launch of the newest online House Music magazine, Switched On Music!

EMC Afloat – Saturday 16 November
Sydney Harbour

The very first EMC boat party is setting sail on MV Bennelong and will showcase a line-up of Sydney’s most esteemed DJs from the house and techno scene. Robbie Lowe, Garth Linton, Rabbit Taxi, Pip Dalton and Jordan Waller will be soundtracking the maiden voyage as the boat cruises around some of Sydney’s most untouched bays and guests sip, dip and dance the night away.

Irregular fit 2020 Program Launch with Culoe De Song – Saturday 16 November
Red Rattler, Marrickville

Irregular Fit the newly established interdisciplinary arts platform comprised of Sydney-based Indigenous, Bla(c)k and POC led artist collectives, will be launching their 2020 program with visual installations, live performances and DJ sets. Taking to the stage on the night is special international guest, Culoe De Song (SA), local talent Merph, Jane and many more to be announced.

Classic Album Sunday’s – Sunday 17 November
The Beauchamp Hotel, Darlinghurst

Returning for its second year as part of the EMC Festival, Classic Album Sundays Sydney is the Australian satellite of the world’s most popular record club, hosting vinyl listening experiences in Sydney every month.

Hosted by Jean-Philippe Ducharne (The Mancusian Circus, Bondi Beach Radio) and Jim Poe (Deep House Australia, Bondi Beach Radio), Classic Album Sundays uncovers the stories behind the album as part of a fully immersive musical experience. Expect a full album vinyl replay in all its glory, on an audiophile hi-fi sound system with phones switched off and strictly no conversation. More info here

S.A.S.H By Day + S.A.S.H Night – Sunday 17 November
The Greenwood Hotel, North Sydney & Home, Darling Harbour

The official EMC closing party is an all-day and night affair, as it teams up with S*A*S*H once again to host a celebration of epic proportions across two of the city’s best-loved venues – Home and The Greenwood Hotel. Lazare Hoche the brains behind Oscillat Music and the torchbearer for the French house sound, will be showing Sydneysiders why his flair and infectious energy has seen him become a staple of the international club and festival

Circuit. Complete with a Funktion1 sound system, topnotch crowd and line-up of homegrown heroes, it’s safe to say, EMC 2019 will be going out with a bang.
