Sydney set to party over 5 days and nights with EMC

EMC today announces its biggest festival program to date with 21 events over five days and nights celebrating electronic music culture. Over 90 artists will perform at multiple venues in Sydney as thousands of electronic music lovers enjoy live performances whilst sharing dance floors with one another.

KITTIN (artist previously known as MISS KITTIN) returns to Australia for the first time in ten years to co-headline Club YES at Home The Venue. Joining KITTIN in Home The Venue’s main room is Berghain favourite Boris from Germany. BBC Radio 1xtra Host and DJ Jamz Supernova, Midnight Safari Express (Megatronic and James Locksmith B2B) and Zahed Sultan also perform in Australia for the first time at Club YES.

An incredible array of artists, performers and hosts bring this weird and wonderful queer rave to life with Sveta, Annabelle Gaspar, DJ Gemma, Ben Drayton, Ayebatonye, Konkker and Index providing the sonics to performances throughout the night from Sarah Birdgirl, Ladyfur, Brendan De La Hay, Felicia Foxx, Kiki House of Silky, Megana, IYA, Kelly Lovemonster, Matt Format, Blaq, Mia, Marlena Dali and Mama Medusa. Club YES is an exciting collaboration between New York’s House of Yes, described by Forbes as one of the most risque things to do in the city, and Sydney’s most forward thinking LGBTQIA+ party creators House of Ayebatonye, CONTROL and House of Mince. The WAY OF YES safe space policy of PARTICIPATE, YES MEANS YES, RESPECT and BE YOUR BEST SELF will be implemented for Club YES. The event takes place on the one year anniversary of Australia announcing the YES vote for same sex marriage.

Opening EMC week is the Muzeek x EMC Official Opening Party at Taylor’s Rooftop. The line-up has been curated by the Muzeek team and features some of the most exciting new artists in New South Wales, performing live on the night includes ISY ISY, OBSEEN aka James Guido, FLUIR and ABROAD. Saturday daytime sees Discogs taking over the Factory Theatre Courtyard in Marrickville for the EMC Record Fair. Conceived by their desire to bring the record collecting community together, Discogs’ EMC Record Fair provides attendees with an opportunity to buy and sell records, listen to music, and dance alongside those that share a deep passion for vinyl. Discogs has handpicked sellers from around Australia with a mix of genres for sale, ranging from electronic music all the way through to funk, soul, jazz and beyond. Discogs Presents: EMC Record Fair will feature a selection of DJ performances from Aroha, Daniel Lupica, Merph,

Sampology, Simon Caldwell, and Toni Yotzi, who will be exclusively spinning records purchased from vendors at the fair making for one-of-a-kind sets followed by a brief Q&A with host Kato. With a special warm up b2b set by Rabbit Taxi and Garth Linton, Discogs celebrates all vinyl-junkies, music fans and avid collectors and welcomes them to the EMC Record Fair. Expect a great day of music, crate-digging and the first chance for Discogs Australian Community members to turn up and connect. Entry is free for this all-ages event.

On Saturday night, South Africa’s Culoe De Song headlines Irregular Fit at The Red Rattler in Marrickville. Initially beginning as a DJ workshop and showcase program for marginalised youth, Irregular Fit has since evolved into a multiplatform interdisciplinary arts collaboration comprised of Sydney-based Indigenous, Bla(c)k and POC (people of colour) led artist collectives. Joining Culoe De Song is Ayebatonye, Bbgorlambs, DJ Goanna, Jane, Rebecca Hatch, Fetu Taku, Jhassic and Merph. Whilst this is a ticketed event, everyone is welcome, so anyone unable to afford a ticket is advised to email hello@irregularfit.com.au to gain entry. The Red Rattler is a wheelchair accessible venue, no strobes or hazers will be in use and an Auslan Interpreter will be present during the speaking elements of the night. Also on Saturday night is the WOMPP (Women of Music Production Perth) and EMC 2019 showcase at Freda’s Basement, supported by Ableton. An incredible lineup of DJs and live acts include 2018 EMC LIVE artist FEELS, (DJ Set) Ruer, Unah, Niku, Trophie and WOMPP DJs.

Late Nite Tuff Guy and Mighty Mouse from the UK take over The Factory Theatre Marrickville on Saturday night for One Night In A Disco. Get ready to be transported into the magical world of Paradise Garage and Studio 54 which will see Late Nite Tuff Guy take the crowd on a fantastical journey through the history of disco, with a modern twist with his completely new remixes and edits of iconic disco tracks. Joining this musical journey will be Mighty Mouse. One Nite At A Disco will bring the fun, escapism and the music of the 1970s and 1980s disco scene into 2019. For this very special event, The Factory will be transformed into the iconic discos of the past. Anything goes at One Nite At A Disco and fans are encouraged to dress up, get down and dance with reckless abandon.

LA-based, Sydney-born enigma George Maple presents PRIMAL DESIRE: A Celebration of the Provocative at Pamela’s on the Saturday night. PRIMAL DESIRE is a fully immersive experience and a night to end all nights. A journey of techno, disco and house in a glam rave cave. Primal Desire is a celebration of our most visceral selves. Freedom of sexuality, expression, lust and love. The night will take guests to another glamorous world with a slightly dark and primal edge. Imagine a lust filled rave with pulsing synths, a hazy glow, and lights flash as you meet your lover across the dance floor, champagne flows, silk shimmers and leather binds. This special event curated by George Maple and featuring special performances by her friends is an extension of George Maple’s involvement in the EMC Conference which includes her in conversation with Jamz Supernova and her workshop The Process: Developing Your Artistic Voice and What It’s Saying.
