Review : Enrico Sangiuliano scores another Beatport number one with his new EP X-Pollination

Artist : Enrico Sangiuliano
Title : X-Pollination
Label : Unrillis
Release : Out Now
Genre : Techno

Imagine a techno label A&R’ed by Luigi Madonna and Roberto Capuana, and founded by Rino Cerrone. Pretty great huh? Well, it’s been going to 10 years now and Enrico Sangiuliano’s new two tracker for Unrillis has just hit number one on the Beatport top 100 techno tracks.

Enrico Sangiuliano came up through illegal raves and is now a well respected DJ who plays all over the world and has his music played by the likes of Adam Beyer and Sven Vath. He has had the longest ever running techno number one on Beatport (his remix of ‘Can You Hear Me’ for DJ Boris on Alleanza) and is one of the best selling artists on the site at any one time.

“X-Pollination (or cross-pollination) is fundamentally the key factor of growth, consciousness and life, it’s the way I connect with people, share my passion, fly from one place to another and put many influences and elements into my music.” – Enrico Sangiuliano

I’m a big fan of the type of Techno Enrico makes. Rubbery kicks and off beat basses provide all his productions with a solid backbone on which he cleverly hangs percussion and melody. Its minimal without being boring, and warehouse without sounding like slowed down Gabber. X-Pollination has a wonderfully dark tone and the various synth parts work well. Each element feels perfectly in place and the track powers along with consume ease. This is a big summer tune!

UK techno royalty Mark Reeve has a long history with the scene that goes back to 90s rave. With regular appearances on seminal labels like Cocoon, Drumcode and collabs with Pig & Dan. Mark’s big rolling sound is the perfect counterpoint to the original, and whats very evident from the off, is that this is a stone cold fist pumper from the first bar. The only problem you’ll have after dropping this dance floor bomb, is whether everyone’s arms will fall off!
