London-Faroe Islands techno duo ORKA announce their much anticipated sixth studio album All At Once and single ‘Mother’. Single dropping 25th Aug with album to follow 29th September via Kervið.
A delicious contrast to All At Once’s blistering lead single ‘Bird’, ‘Mother’ follows up in more reflective, headsy territory. A track that celebrates the club-experience as ‘womb-like’, it becomes its own nurturing world where enveloped in darkness we float to the reassuring throb of bass and kick. Drawing on feelings of connection, nostalgia and otherworldliness, ‘Mother’ beguiles like a captivating rave fever dream.
ORKA say:
“Mother is about the womb-like state of being in a dark club enveloped in bass. It projects that otherworldly sense of community you feel with strangers moving as one entity. But at the same time the song is like a memory. Like the track you listen to returning home on the night bus. It feels familiar, nostalgic and hopeful”.
Francine Perry from London and Jens L. Thomsen from the Faroe Islands aka ORKA first crossed paths in the vibrant club scene of London more than a decade ago and since have become one of the most revered underground techno acts in Europe. Twice nominated for the Nordic Council Music Prize as ORKA, they also have a string of accolades as individuals – Francine is the musical director for Romy XX, and the the recipient of an ORAM Award, and MPG’s Rising Star Award, while Jens has produced sound art installations for Southbank Centre and Eysturoy tunnel, and was named Producer of the Year at the Faroese Music Awards 2022.

As a combined sonic force the results are nothing less than spectacular. Drawing inspiration from the Hardcore Continuum and UK sound system culture the pair blend elements of minimal techno, progressive electro, and ambient music. The resultant sound is a diverse range of stylistic influences, unmistakably and unforgettably ORKA.
To celebrate the release ofsixth studio album All At Once, ORKA host their official album release party at London venue Iklectik on 5th Oct with support from Specimens and Psyclo. Tickets are available via DICE now.
