Five on Friday with Arsenopoulos

Arsenopoulos has spent the best part of two decades quietly building his own sound. Based in Larissa and working between his home city and Thessaloniki, the Greek DJ first found his way into electronic music in 2005, drawn in by the cold precision of Electro and Techno. The names that shaped those early years tell you plenty about where his head was at: The Hacker, Gerald Donald, Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke and DJ Hell, artists who understood that the darker, more mechanical side of the dancefloor could be every bit as seductive as the euphoric one.

Those foundations have held firm, but his tastes have widened naturally over time. Electro and EBM gave way to excursions into Acid, Italo, Dark Disco, Indie Dance and Techno, each one absorbed rather than simply collected. The result is a style built on careful selection, sets that move with real purpose, and a strong feel for atmosphere and mood.

Between 2024 and 2025 he also ran The Beat Society, a platform devoted to exclusive mixes and collaborations with artists from across the international scene, giving him a curator’s perspective alongside his work behind the decks. These days he continues to explore through his own sets and mixes, while spending time in the studio with hardware synthesisers and drum machines, slowly shaping ideas of his own.

Arsenopoulos takes us through five tracks that don’t leave his crate

Mars by Dina Summer

One of the tracks that never fails to transport me is โ€œMarsโ€ by Dina Summer. This track is a true journey, expertly crafting a laid-back yet incredibly groovy atmosphere that fits perfectly into the dark disco and indie dance realm. A brilliant live project of Local Suicide & Kalipo , the track wraps the dancefloor in mellow synth pads and an effortless space-pop energy. It has this unique ability to shift the mood of a set, lifting the energy and carrying it all into a deeply hypnotic, cosmic vibe.

Transactional by Lauer

My latest musical obsession is easily Lauerโ€”his discography is simply incredible. One track that has completely stood out for me in 2026 is โ€œTransactional,โ€ released on the brilliant Altered Circuits label. This track is an absolute groove powerhouse, beautifully blending retro Miami basslines with classic electro synths. Driven by a raw, energetic beat and laced with unmistakable acid elements, it delivers that retro-futuristic energy that I always associate with Lauerโ€™s sound.

La Memoria Dei Sistemi by Rodion & Mammarella

From the Musica E Computer album, released by one of my absolute favorite labels, Slow Motion Records, comes a true standout gem. When it comes to my DJ sets, โ€œLa Memoria Dei Sistemiโ€ by Rodion & Mammarella is one of those tracks that never fails to make an impact. Itโ€™s a highly energetic track that balances an atmospheric feel with driving peak-time energy. What I personally love most is its nostalgic melodic hookโ€”the synths instantly take me back to the golden harmonies of early electroclash. Itโ€™s a beautiful bridge between retro-futurism and modern dancefloor energy.

Amour ร‰phรฉmรจre by Nouveau Futur

Another track that completely captivates me is โ€œAmour ร‰phรฉmรจreโ€ by Nouveau Futur. This duo, formed by Neurotiker and Betty (FR), is easily one of my favorite acts. Released on the incredible RetroFutur compilation by Mรฉlopรฉe Records, the track is a masterclass in building atmosphere. It perfectly balances a heavy, driving electro bassline and retro-futuristic synths with killer vocals that steal the show. The raw energy is subtly laced with classic acid undertones, creating a dark and deeply hypnotic atmosphere. Itโ€™s one of those tracks I keep coming back to in my sets whenever I want to introduce a darker, more cinematic rave vibe.

Vice (Damon Jee Remix) by Panthera

When it comes to the mysterious artist known as Panthera, itโ€™s hard to pick just one favoriteโ€”he has easily been one of the most heavily played producers in my DJ sets over the last few years. But if I had to choose one, it would be โ€œVice (Damon Jee Remix),โ€ from the Vice EP, released on Darlyn Vlysโ€™s acclaimed Polaris Records. Damon Jee takes the original into a darker, more hypnotic direction, blending heavy indie dance and dark disco rhythms with touches of trance. Itโ€™s one of those tracks that never fails to create a powerful, immersive moment in my sets.
