Some artists make music. Others build worlds around it. Fresh Lov3 belongs firmly in the second camp — a producer and AV architect whose work refuses to separate the sonic from the visual, the electronic from the orchestral, the club from something altogether more considered.
His path into electronic music is as unlikely as it is logical. A background in the National Children’s Orchestra gave him an ear for structure and dynamics long before he ever touched a drum machine. That classical grounding never left him — it simply found new expression on the floor, in the booth, and behind the scenes at some of London’s most respected venues. As AV manager for The Cause, Egg and Beat London, he developed an intimate understanding of how light, sound and space conspire to move people. That knowledge is baked into everything he makes.
His 2024 album Breathe announced a singular vision: long-form instrumentation threaded through spiritual, rhythmic electronics with unmistakably London DNA. DRUMPRAYER: LOV3, released earlier this year, deepens that proposition — percussion as prayer, rhythm as ritual. And now, with Strobe Soundsystem, Fresh Lov3 is taking the audiovisual experience off the record and into defined spaces, building community around the idea that what you see and what you hear should always be one and the same.
This week, he gives us five tracks that shape him.
Floorplan aka Robert & Lyric Hood – Brothers and Sisters
What an absolutely beautifully elegant tune. I often sample from this piece during sets, inspirational positive goodness in funky Detroit techno style. Part of Robert hoods style is sampling from the gospel history of music in Detroit and fusing the modern with the old. Organs in minor thirds and lyrics about faith and freedom.
I take huge inspiration from his work and have very much taken the same musical cultural theory making our own dub reggae techno remixes and edits under the Strobe Soundsystem collective banner taking inspiration from London’s Jamaican influenced modern uniquely gospel music.
Dubfire – Challengr 1.2
This track is one of those stuck with me since I heard it tracks – just absolutely adrenaline movement groove, part breakbeat, part funk, mainly driving techno.
Seeing dubfire as deep dish play live in fabric in 2025 was super special as they live looped from previous productions and I noticed dubfire weaving in loops from this particular track in the same way that I had begun to use it often on a 3rd deck… Was a special moment of confirmation ;)
Max Cooper – Resynthesis 3D (Binaural Version)
This track was pretty groundbreaking when I heard it, and often will bring it out when I need some melodic deepening on a set on a spare deck solo or loop sampling over some techno stuff. What makes this track interesting is the way he uses psychoacoustic properties as well as the content of the music to keep the listener emotionally engaged.
This is very much the same theory of why I like super clear and well delivered audio to the point of going and building a massive audiophile soundsystem instead of working with clubs. Most amazing tracks sound average in most spaces. And I love creating amazing worshipful experiences through music… Why settle for just ok?
Headflux – Music Is My Weapon
This track is literally a flipping weapon. Like play this on any system. ANY system. Mastering was done by the legendary Shane The Cutter on this album, and psybreaks was a genre around this time to 2015 was super interesting, much more space in the music than 4×4 beat structure for people to move. I always think of breakbeat as a great palette cleanser during a set when you need to mix things up for people and create energy around the room.
And I’m sorry but I couldn’t nail it down to 5 so heres number 6: my test track for soundsystems
2562 – Basin Dub
Has transients of varying dynamics across bass mids and highs which tells you how the system will behave, depth of imaging in the midrange depending on how far into silence you can hear the snare reverb
…. Secret sauce
