Five on Friday with Horrace/live

Dublin’s Horrace/live has built his reputation on a simple principle: nothing is pre-recorded. A live techno artist working entirely from hardware, he builds every set in the moment, with no backing tracks and nothing to fall back on. The result is techno stripped back to its essentials, with a precise, heavy kick, deep and resonant bass, and an atmosphere that fills the room without ever softening the edges.

That approach has found a steady audience. Horrace currently holds a residency on Gravity Hits Radio, broadcast nationally across Ireland on DAB+, and has held a place in the Beatport Top 10 across eight consecutive years. That kind of consistency rarely comes from a single release catching a moment. It points instead to a body of work that keeps finding its way onto dancefloors, and to a following that has grown with him.

His latest release, Civil Bill (LIVE), appears on RAWWORX’s Firewox Vol. 1. Recorded straight from his hardware setup, it captures what he does on stage: raw, physical and built for the floor. It is out now on all platforms.

International bookings are following. Tonight he plays the closing set at Itaca in Ibiza, from 2am to 3am, before bringing a full live performance to Off The Record in Hackney, London, on 10 October.

Horrace is quick to credit the people behind him, singling out Gazz and the Gravity Hits team, Saytek and Kiki Events for the opportunities they have opened up. Ahead of his London date, we caught up with him for this week’s Five on Friday.

Dionysus โ€” Horrace | LETS TECHNO

My own release. Deep, rolling, hypnotic techno. It establishes the foundation of every set I play โ€” steady momentum, stripped-back structure and unrelenting energy.

Flight 19 โ€” Cleric x Dax J | Clergy

A masterclass in atmosphere and intensity. The tension builds into something massive. This track sets the standard I aim for: depth, power and complete control of the room.

The 90s Method (Live) โ€” SAYTEK LIVE | DANKE Records

A perfect example of what live performance actually means. Imperfect, authentic and full of energy. It reminds me why I perform everything in real time. The human element makes it powerful.

Civil Bill (LIVE) โ€” Horrace | RAWWORX

My latest release. Recorded live, with no safety net. A kick that cuts through any system and bass that drives the room. Released alongside an exceptional roster of artists on RAWWORX. This track stands on its own merits.

Saturday Boy (Surgeon Remix) โ€” Paul ‘Damage’ Bailey

Timeless. Tough. Uncompromising. Surgeon at his finest. This is the blueprint. Heavy, stripped and devastatingly effective. If I can leave an audience feeling half as powerful as this track sounds, I have done my job.
