Five sets not to be missed at Family Piknik Festival 2019

After first announcements early January, Family Piknik now discloses its full line-up and adds great artists to its already first class list. This year, several exciting back-to-backs will be scheduled, like the one between LA FLEUR and MAGDALENA, two of the most inspiring ladies in the industry joining forces for Family Piknik like they did a couple of times last summer in Ibiza.

Also, KEINEMIUSIK head honchos ADAM PORT and &ME will be in action from 4pm to 8pm in the middle of the woods, heading the new secret stage, right after the always eccentric and surprising BUTCH. Drumcode’s hottest member ENRICO SANGIULIANO will close the main stage after a storming 6 hours sunny time-lapse wrapped up by the biggest names of the Techno industry : SVEN VÄTH and CARL COX. Crosstown’s boss DAMIAN LAZARUS will also be part of the Family Piknik madness during the afternoon, with a set expected to be as crazy as its Day Zero performance in Tulum.

The Flamingo stage confirms its Melodic and Progressive trend adding the Argentinian super-hero HERNAN CATTANEO, rewarded of a DJ Award trophy as Best Progressive DJ. It will be the first appearance in France for this legend, so he will deliver a more than expected 3 hours performance. In the middle of the afternoon, on the same stage, none other than the highly respected JORIS VOORN will please everyone with his unique and emotional touch. With all these great artists gathered under the Mediterranean sun, magic will be in the air!

Family Piknik’s Opening concert will be once again focus on ELECTRONIC LIVE ACTS and it will showcase some of the best shows of the moment. As this year’s headliner, the festival will warmly welcome the very well-known and respected French master chief AGORIA, who’ll present his innovative live show around his new studio album. People will also be blown away by Diynamic’s genius JOHANNES BRECHT, Solomun’s loyal soldier in the studio.

Techno veteran MARC ROMBOY will exclusively launch his brand new LIVE act, as well as MATADOR, who’ll stop by Family Piknik for one of his only six Live acts in the world this year. French trio LKF (composed of TIME, who released Family Piknik 2018 official anthem ‘Keys of Gods’ + Villanova) will open the show and Brazilian superstar ANNA (Kompakt, Drumcode…) will close this opening night with her banging techno.

Early Bird Phase 1 sold out in less than 20 days. Early Bird Phase 2 is still active (40€) before stepping up to Standard Tickets (50€). Entrance to Opening concert is included.

So, lets now take a look at Decoded Magazine’s top 5 sets not to be missed.

As it’s now 15 years of Systematic Recordings and such a milestone which deserves and demands a suitably special celebration of everything the label has achieved. We couldn’t not pick out Marc exclusively launching his brand new live set on Saturday for the Opening Concert. Having first planted its roots in the summer of 2004, the imprint has nurtured a collective of producers whose musical ethos goes hand in hand with Marc’s sonic vision. The likes of Stephan Bodzin, Joris Voorn, Maetrik (Maceo Plex), KiNK and Laurent Garnier have all found a home on Systematic Recordings, forming a family of esteemed artists whose soundscape is at the heart of the label’s core values.

ANNA closing DJ set

ANNA is one of techno’s most captivating and in-demand new producers. After cutting her teeth in clubs around Sao Paolo from the age of 14, she has slowly risen to be one of the scene’s most respected names, with releases on the likes of Kompakt and NovaMute, along with support from Sven Väth, Marcel Dettmann and Richie Hawtin to name a few. Her remix of Jon Hopkins ‘Singularity’ is arguably one of her strongest releases to date blending rugged techno and transcendent electronics, which mirrors the pinnacle of the album’s motion, delivering a claustrophobic yet uplifting energy. We’re sure she will close out the Opening Concert with a bang.

SASHA & JOHN DIGWEED exclusive 3 hours back-to-back

The golden duo Sasha & John Digweed have had an excellent return from their hiatus bringing back their interwoven magic to the crowds. To not witness these dance legends in action with an exclusive 3 hours back-to-back set on the Flamingo Stage would be unforgiving. Make a slot in the schedule for these pair. You won’t be disappointed.

On the recent unveiling of his short film to accompany his single ‘Ryo’ made in honour of his youngest son, Ryoma we pick the ever consistent Joris Voorn as a must see. Festival gigs are always where Joris seems to shine the most, in particular from personal experience at the mighty Awakenings Festival. The man can do no wrong in our humble opinion.

Last and by no means least, the mighty Carl Cox who has lately ruled the alternative Top 100 DJ Mag / Beatport, he is without any doubt the biggest name in the Techno industry. He will deliver an extended 3 hours sunset mix from 7pm to 10pm, right after Sven Väth dropping his best vinyl from 4pm to 7pm.
