Gel Abril’s modern take on Techno is perfect for Rejected Records

Artist: Gel Abril
Title: Contemporary Thoughts EP
Label: Rejected
Release: Out Now!
Genre: Techno

Gel Abril’s career so far has been one filled with massive accomplishments and fantastic musical pieces. Joris Voorn and Edwin Oosterwal’s imprint, Rejected have picked up an EP filled with thumping drums, fat basslines, and grainy synths and features 3 anthemic tracks that are set to take the world by storm.

‘Contemporary Thoughts’ are certainly captured throughout the stages. This modern sounding Techno track fills the room with glorious sonic vibrations. The unique bells cover the low end like a silk robe layered on top. In comes a modulating synth that seamlessly transitions us from a gentle nod of the head to full on, out of control raving, getting us pumped for the new dawn which is steadily approaching.

The ‘New Dawn’ arrives and each beat rumbles the ground. Gel has taken on a more minimalist approach with the thumping kick surrounded by the crisp percs and hi-hats. An arpeggio of strings and lower notes explode onto the scene and fill our ears with the oscillating shake we desire.

‘Things I Remember’ brings us back to the old school and sets up an appealing groove. The huge stabs layered on top of Gel’s pumping minimalist drums makes quick work of getting us into the swing of things. I could see this track warming up the crowd with its pure industrious vibe.

Gel Abril’s ‘Contemporary Thoughts EP’ is a really great, modernised take on Techno and the 3 track collection fits perfectly with the infamous feel of Rejected Records. I am very much looking forward to dropping these in front of a gruelling crowd of Techno lovers.
