Get Physical Music drops new remix of the classic Booka Shade vs. M.A.N.D.Y. – Body Language

Get Physical Music revisits one of electronic music’s most enduring anthems with the release of Booka Shade vs. M.A.N.D.Y. – Body Language (Helsloot Remix). Arriving as part of Body Language Vol. 27, the new interpretation connects the project’s roots with its latest chapter, curated by Dutch producer Helsloot.

First released in 2005, Body Language became an instant classic and a defining track of mid-2000s club culture. Built around a tactile bassline, and an elegant sense of restraint, it captured exactly what Berlin’s Get Physical Music had set out to represent: music that was both physically irresistible and emotionally nuanced. Critics and dancers alike hailed the track as a milestone. Pitchfork described it as “sleek, sculpted dance music that was as bodily as it was cerebral,”

Body Language gave its name to Get Physical’s flagship compilation series, which has since become one of the label’s defining contributions to electronic music. Across more than two decades and 26 volumes, the series has been curated by artists such as Dixon, DJ Hell, WhoMadeWho, Monkey Safari, Francesco Tristano, Yulia Niko, and founders Booka Shade, DJ T., and M.A.N.D.Y.. Each edition has functioned as both documentation and argument: a reflection of underground currents, and a projection of where club culture might go next.

With Volume 27, Helsloot steps into this lineage. Known for his melodic, vocal-led sound;  from his 600-million-stream collaboration Because You Move Me with Tinlicker, to releases on Anjunadeep, Domino, This Never Happened, and Ritter Butzke,  he brings a contemporary perspective to the series. His 2024 debut album Never Tried further confirmed his instinct for balancing emotional weight with dancefloor precision.

On the new Helsloot Remix of Body Language, he engages with the legacy of the track avoiding attempts to overwrite it, and reframing its DNA through his own vocabulary. The groove is kept taut, but re-sculpted with layers and space for introspection. It’s both homage and evolution;  a reminder of how far the series has travelled, and an indication of its continued relevance in today’s electronic music landscape.

Speaking on the remix, Helsloot comments: “I know this track has been remixed a lot so I said to myself ‘challenge accepted’. My vision was to make a full chord melody out of the iconic bassline that slowly evolves into the original.” In revisiting the track that started it all, Helsloot closes a circle: connecting the series’ origins in Booka Shade and M.A.N.D.Y.’s vision of physical, emotionally intelligent club music, with the forward-looking ethos that Body Language Vol. 27 now carries into its third decade.

Booka Shade vs. M.A.N.D.Y. – Body Language (Helsloot Remix) is out now on Get Physical Music.
