Elite Force and Guau join forces on a new collaboration โComputer Singularityโ โ an explosive transatlantic breakbeat monster from two artists at the top of their game.
A Spanish breaks mainstay, Guau is the founder of the revered 83 label and โComputer Singularityโ โ its 500th release โ celebrates the imprintโs eighth anniversary. Guau has had his sights set on collaborating with Elite Force โ aka Simon Shackleton โ for the milestone release for quite some time.
โIโve been a fan of Simonโs music for decades now,โ says Guau, โand since I remixed his song โBombinโ The Subwayโ [in December 2022], we both wanted to work together, mixing the UK and Spanish sound into a huge breakbeat song.โ
A master craftsman of several styles, including gorgeously escapist synth soundscapes under his name, Shackletonโs meticulously designed machine-made electronic sound never forgoes human emotion. As Elite Force, he never fails to deliver irresistible breaks, bringing magnetic physicality to his drums and that is the case again on โComputer Singularityโ, a track that explores the relentless development of technology and makes us question the divide between artificial intelligence and human autonomy.
The twisting and turning breaks hit hard and the twisted basslines will have faces screwed up for all the right reasons. Video-game-style synths bring intergalactic energy to the drums as the spoken word samples muse on the looming dangers of AI and the existential risk to humans. Smart filters build the tension towards another funked-up drop that will have people dancing as if for their last ever time before the machines take over once and for all.
โIโve been a big admirer of the quality of Guauโs work in the breakbeat realm for some time,โ says Shackleton. “Aside from being a lovely human being, I love his infectious enthusiasm and boundless energy. When the opportunity to collaborate came up I was excited to jump on board, and the peak time banger โComputer Singularityโ is the result.โ
