Under No Illusion continue in their quest to take 2016 well and truly by the balls , this time the legend that is Harry Romero lands on Ki Creightons super hot imprint. Its been a while since the New Jersey beat smith has dropped new material, and he’s also dropped the ‘Choo Choo’ nickname. Kicking the EP of is title track “Street Knowledge”. With its heady dose of serious acid action and hip hop inspired vocal sampling. His trademark beats and rhythms are all over a strong kick and layered FX; this is definitely one for the heads.
On the dub Harry drops the acid line in favor of a more straight up 4/4 journey, keeping the vocal hook but this time laying down a more beat laden groover that retains dub feel while still rocking the floor. U.N.I. pull of another masterstroke when picking remixers and this time it lands at the feet of the UK’s current hot property Denney. Taking all the elements of the original, he twists them into a retro fit acid journey straight out of the top drawer, building the track to a break that once let loose, is siren led groove Basement Jaxx would cream over.
“Y’All Feel It” goes straight into the category of peak time; Harry once again showing why he’s a master of the craft at making tracks that instantly draw you onto the floor, while never letting go of the important groove factor. Hips and feet will move to this guaranteed. Closing out the EP is long time collaborator and friend of Harry’s, the formidable Joeski. Who changes up the original with acid tints, his own vocal ride and a percussion thats sent from heaven!
Top drawer stuff, and took me back to my roots of tracky, groove led house music. Brilliant!
