Italian techno DJ/Producer Aniello Federico, or better known by his fans as Hollen, has been steadily crafting and sculpting his sound over the past few years and has seen him gain releases on Bitten, Suara, Deeperfect, Tronic and many more. Here we look at his EP release on Italian label Loose Records entitled ‘Randomatic’.

Straight from the off you know that ‘Randomatic’ track means business with some dark chugging drums, rolling bassline and white noise sweeps getting the energy pumping. As the midway point of the track approaches, lovely deep chords start creeping into the mix whilst still keeping the air of menace about the track. This is a solid chugging techno track that will keep DJ sets rolling along nicely.

The Automatiques remix brings us into different territory away from the dark chugging vibes of the original and delivering a deeper feel to the track. Luscious drums aided along with a bouncy, chugging bassline which eases you into stabby synths and vocal stabs. This remix builds and builds with huge deep pad sounds, vocal stabs flirting in and out of the track and sounds hitting you from every direction for your aural pleasure.

Smacking you straight in the face with huge drums from the very beginning, you know that this track will get your blood pumping. ‘Anatomy’ builds with piano stabs, flourishes of white noise and a swirling arp that keep evolving as the track goes on. This track is one to keep the party rumbling along and the dancefloors sweaty!

All in all, this is a fantastic EP with a bit of everything to suit all the techno fans whether they like their techno with a deeper sound to it or whether they just like straight, honest in your face techno. Great work from Hollen!
