Boss Ki Creighton teams up with label stalwart Itchy Newman to bring you the ‘Kick Fix EP’ for the outputs 18th Release. Lead track ‘Kick Fix’ is a driving hypnotic tech house groover that packs a real punch for any discerning dance-floor. The track has a lovely baseline and some very nice single hit stabs that wrap around a head infecting looped sample. Fans of the Joris Voorn sound should lap this up for sure. Some strong dance floor related grooves. Ki enlists long time label friend and producer David Glass on the remix of ‘Kick Fix’ and David turns out a really cool and moody edit. Once again with the emphasis on the baseline David chops up a filtered fx vocal and retains the key stabs which are more underpinned. A track I can certainly see friend of Ki, Yousef hammering over the coming months, as it has Circus main room and Space Terrace written all over it. Lovely groovy house and highly recommended. Think Derrick Carter and you will not be far off the mark.

‘Black Jack’ sees the lads put on their techno hat and go straight for the jugular with heavy drum programming and a warped out filtered acid line that leads up to an epic breakdown. When it kicks back in you certainly know, as it draws in more percussion and a lovely cymbal ride. If you’re into the Drumcode or Soma releases then take a listen to this. ‘Swoon’ closes the EP with a techno swagger and ounces of twisted attitude. Again the drums are tight and the production crisp with percussion hits layered over a flexed vocal stab. The main baseline hook has a Dirtybird kind of feel to it and one I could certainly see many A list DJ dropping to crowds across Ibiza this summer. Good work Ki, another superb release. Keep these little gems coming!
