The fresh new label, ATLANT Recordings launched by the Romanian electronic music composer and DJ, BOg is set to certainly turn heads in 2017. The budding label has signed two killer progressive tracks from an absolute legend of the genre, John Debo. This follows on from the label’s superb first release by Malbetrieb.
John Debo is undoubtedly a pioneer of underground dance music culture in the US. His club nights at Venus De Milo, Axis & Avalon in Boston carry legendary status, having laid a strong foundation for the now flourishing electronic music scene in the USA, and Debo shows no signs of slowing the pace anytime soon especially with his latest release here…
First up on the release we have the title track and what a great way to begin the journey. The track has a great stuttered like hi-hats that instantly create a great vibe. It is not long before we are hit with a sublime ethereal like melody, that the track then continues to build from. In the press release, it is described as “deliciously dirty, deep space techno territory” and I could not describe it better myself. This really is a sublime piece of techno/prog that is filled with dream-like emotion and gorgeous keys.
The second track on the release is a little more pacey than the first but still has that deep progressive vibe that John is a master at creating. The twinkling melodies and builds in this track are just of epic proportion. The way he creates the atmospheric space-like-vibe is incredible, and you really can tell John has moved back to using analog hardware again. The emotion he creates in his music here is simply gorgeous.
I cannot rate this release highly enough, and if you have not heard of this man I suggest you take read into what this man has created over the years, and done for electronic music as a whole.
