Release: Out Now!
Genre: Tech House
Adam Curtain’s fresh new label Trouble Maker Records returns for its second release coming from the ever evolving Jozif, who also dropped a mega remix on Trouble Maker’s debut release ‘Cold Tubbin’. Jozif’s ‘Give It To Me’ EP, which also features a remix from Jamie Trench, dropped 9th December and is yet another standout release from the London-based super producer.
‘Give It To Me’ is Acid House of a futuristic nature. The processing on the low end creates a solid, weighty body that seriously rocks the walls. The huge analog kick drum carves out its own path with a beefy low-frequency range and a nice snappy top which gives the track an incredible punch. Atmospheric drones give a haunted feel in the builds and it fits nicely with the minor melody of the 303. Arpeggios, vocal chops and synthesized strings of an out-there nature fill the rest of the spectrum and draw emotion with a super shine.
‘Abba Acid’ again makes use of an absolute expert level of processing picked up by Jozif. Everything feels really tight and warm. The thick, pumping bassline transforms into a heavily distorted melodic line and breaks down. The distortion is absolutely crisp and on point. A cool lo-fi vocal comes in and delays around the stratosphere before the track completely cuts out and turns into a filter fest. We are built back into that intense drop. This is a really great House track that could easily become a timeless 303 classic.
Jamie Trench’s remix of ‘Abba Acid’ once again utilizes that trippy low-end progression whilst a drum pattern that sounds completely fresh and different comes in with a brilliant brightness. The vocals add a nice spice whilst an airy flutter is set off deep in the midst to trick the ears with the spacial effect. This is certainly a very fun track and could easily slot into sets of all hours and locations.
