More essential remix action from Julien Jeweil on Pig&Dan’s Elevate label

Elevate bosses Pig & Dan continue their exciting series of one off remixes with another stellar choice in the guise of Frenchman Julien Jeweil. Here he takes on Lizard King – a homage to Jim Morrisons’ alter ego. No stranger to the studio, Jeweil you will remember, kicked his career off with the exceptional Air Conditionne, which topped the Beatport charts first time out. Now signed to Plus 8, Minus and recently, Drumcode, his signature style breathes new energy into this amped up peak timer.

“We went through a personal selection process and chose each producer because of their distinctive style. We feel that they are all true masters of their trade” – Pig and Dan

And so on to the track. Those familiar with the original will delight in that Julien has by and large not messed around with the Pig&Dan winning formula, lets be honest, they make some damn fine techno music! What he has done though, is strip away the fluff and get down and dirty. This is heads down, rocking main room mayhem, although for a prog boy like me, Im glad the vocal element has been brought forward in the break to add some nice harmonics, before we quickly descend back into the murky 909 drum world Julien so eagerly constructed for us.

And thats really it in a nutshell, if you like your techno stripped back and chock full of warehouse bothering drums, skippy, well placed and never overwhelming percussion, and bags and bags of energy, you could do a lot worse than add this little beauty to your wish list come the end of September. Absolutely essential weaponry!
