Kate Simko is an artist who has been making huge waves across the industry for many years, she is certainly one of the most consistent standout artists of the 21st century. The iconic sound of Kate Simko has been steadily progressing into a state of complete uniqueness and it really reflects the creative genius that lies in the layers of the Chicago-born producer. Loveable label Leftroom bring us Kate’s latest installment, a four track EP of pure bliss which also features a collaborative remix from label chief, Matt Tolfrey and superstar, Huxley.
‘Heart All’ gets things underway and we can really hear that early influence of the Chicago House sound gleaming through every pulse wave. The tight drums are glued together in the lows with that funky bassline whilst stabs and bright pads give the track a lovely shine. ‘All Heart’ featuring a stunning vocal from Amunet Shah keeps that bright, sun-soaked vibe alive and makes easy work of getting us on our feet.
Matt Tolfrey & Huxley’s remix of ‘All Heart’ takes on a ferociously dark and energetic persona, really changing things up from the original. The track feels rapid and totally engaging. It’s certainly something you would like to hear in a dark, mysterious club at 4 am. Super stuff. ‘Not Tonight’ also takes on that late night vibe, but with some more melodic elements keeping us hooked. The low toms that provide a meaty low-end groove really get the head bopping along. An absolute groover in every sense to finish off a fantastic EP!
