Krafty Kuts compiles a 10 track playlist of music that has inspired his new album/tour including hip-hop, breakbeat, electro and everything in between

Soaring high from the sonic boom their hit single ‘Hands High’ created, this dynamic duo is landing back to earth with a bang to take to the road for what is set to be an historic and unforgettable tour. Hip hop legend and Jurassic 5 frontman Chali 2na and award winning multi genre turntablist Krafty Kuts, joined forces in the studio in 2016 to produce a whole host of lethal weapons that have been destroying dancefloors across the world ever since. In 2017 they took to the sky and toured the UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and more, showcasing their unique partnership that left audiences with no doubts of their rhythm and rhyme shooting superpowers.

There has been no twist of fate, no accidental spill, no evil mastermind that has given these two Masters of Music their unquestionable skills. Krafty Kuts and Chali 2na are artists that have put in the leg work, grafted for every success that they wear with honour and have transformed themselves into almost mythical maestros. Since they joined forces and took on the world side-by-side, nothing has stood in their way and as summer beckons, they will ramp up the heat ready for the 2018 launch in London. This gargantuan mission includes dates in Bristol, Cardiff, Newcastle, Sheffield, Leeds, Brighton, Glasgow, Manchester, Guilford, Paris, Toulouse, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Zurich and more – with 15 shows to tackle in May alone, this isn’t a challenge for any ordinary performer…

You might not find any spandex-clad, cape wearing, sword wielding characters on stage at these events but you will definitely be blown sideways by the beats, breaks, bass and turntablist chase that will be in your face… that will be sure to be the case! On top of this sure to be sell out tour, comes their killer move – the hotly anticipated album. The single ‘Hands High’ was just a taster of what’s to come, on the horizon is the promise of something special, something that will change the face of hip hop as we know it. In short, you are promised one of the world’s greatest DJs and hip hop’s most recognisable MCs to bring their own brand of superpower right to your feet – keep those Hands High and be ready!

Chali 2na and Krafty Kuts, are heading back out on tour which coincides with the 20th anniversary of the debut album of Jurassic 5. To highlight the sound of the upcoming album and tour Krafty Kuts has compiled a 10 track playlist of music that has inspired them to go on the tour and write their new album.

01. Redman – Bars

We are both huge fans of Redman and I personally always look to him for inspiration lyrically and musically and when I heard Bars from the Mudface LP it’s a perfect straight up Hip Hop joint tbh the whole LP is so sick it’s hard to pick a winner.

02. Roots Manuva – Witness

In the middle of Writing this LP we toured with Roots Manuva which was a great experience and played some crazy shows across the UK especially The Troxxy show in London and obviously we heard Witness The Fitness live which was always such a highlight of the night.

03. Rick James Give it To Me Baby

Pops up in our set and is such funky and infectious tune that just sticks in your head and I loved the way Chali vibes over our own little version.

04. The Nextmen – Blood & Fire

Chali is a big fan of Dynamite MC & and we also got the chance to work with Him and the Nextmen on the LP so when he heard this on our travels he was blown away and it soon became a firm favourite in the car for our journeys.

05. Krafty Kuts Golden Era Hip Hop Podcasts

Over the last few years I have put together my favourite collection of Golden Era Hip Hop tracks and once again on our long car journeys this helped kept the vibe alive in the car before shows.

06. Oliver – Ottomatic

While performing in Perth on Boxing Day we caught A.Skillz & Z Trip throw down an awesome set and one of the highlights was this incredible track from the multi talented LA based act Oilver that they started their set with …. magnificent tune!

07. Bob Marley – Could You Be Love

At the end of our set we like to give some love back to everyone who came to the show and we did a clever trick with this Bob Marley classic. We had so many great moments jammin with the crowd on our travels!

08. The Funk Hunters – Funk Back

Another highlight was dropping this wicked tune that Chali recorded with Canada’s finest duo the Funk Hunters. This was always a big highlight of the set and packs such a punch with it’s phat production

09. Wicked City – Our Culture

I introduced Chali to my live act Wicked City which he had no idea about. 6 Members which consisted of Dynamite MC, Erb n Dub, Damien Soul, Steve Yamaha & Rory Harvey. A modern funk band with a futuristic twist and this track was a particular favourite!!

10. Krafty Kuts Dynamite MC & Chali 2na – It Aint My Fault

From my LP All 4 Corners with Dynamite MC. After writing Hands High Chali thought it would be great to get in the studio with Dynamite MC and write a track, this gem was created. We recently got the opportunity to perform this track at the BBC on Lauren Laverne’s show for Radio 6 which was a great experience.
