Artist: Lewis Fautzi
Title: Molecular Spasms EP
Label: Soma Records
Release: Out Now!
Genre Techno
The Portuguese techno heavy hitter, Lewis Fautzi delivers his latest and arguably best EP to date on the mighty Soma Records. Lewis is well known for his futuristic/Sci-fi-esque sound and there has been no change here. This four track EP demonstrates the mind-altering production techniques that Lewis has been blessed with!
The title track, ‘Molecular Spasms’ comes in heavy from the start with a hard-hitting kick drum and ferocious percussive elements. However, it’s the infectious synth line that makes this track the bomb that it is!
‘Ionic Bonding’ comes in with more of a droning synth line but still carries those weighty low ends and driving percussions. Perfect for those DJs playing the final set of the night!
The third track on the EP is ‘Absolute Zero’ and this wins as the best track on the EP for me. Fautzi creates five minutes of heart-stopping tension with eerie synth rises and a low end that quite literally makes my house rumble. Great work from Lewis here and this is a track that will be in my collection for some time!
Last but not least on the EP is ‘Covalent Bond’. This track would be perfect for those peak hours in the mighty Berghain club in Berlin. With its hard-hitting drums dominating the low end, its driving Hi-Hat patterns piercing through the midrange, and its modulating synth line keeping me reeled in from start to finish. ‘Covalent Bond’ would surely be in my bag week in week out!
