Luuk Van Dijk picks his top 10 essential festival tracks ahead of Free Your Mind Festival

Free Your Mind is a brand which targets the dreamers amongst us. Being one of the first and most established dance festivals in The Netherlands they remain to innovate and push the limits. The Dutch certainly have more to offer than just the area of Amsterdam and they continue to prove this by still being the fastest growing underground festival in the east. After a wonderful 15-year anniversary organising multiple events throughout last year, it’s time for their annual festival in Arnhem again on 1st June 2019.

Amsterdam based DJ and producer Luuk van Dijk (’96) has started producing electronic music in 2011. Raised by an opera singer and a music teacher, it was inevitable that he would become a musician himself. As an established member of the (tech)house scene, Luuk has performed at a range of local and international clubs and festivals, including Paradise, Awakenings, elrow, Cocoon and a residency at Straf_Werk. He has played alongside Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, Sven Väth, Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati, Patrick Topping and Kerri Chandler, to name a few.

Known for his groovy sound and prominent basslines, Luuk remains ever-evolving. His tracks have been picked up by massive labels such as Hot Creations, Solid Grooves, VIVa Music and Circus Recordings. He’s been mentioned as “artist to watch” by Hot Since 82, Hector Couto, Eats Everything, Steve Lawler and Shadow Child. The love and passion for music show when Luuk is on stage and through his productions. With his contagious energy and radiant personality, Luuk van Dijk has just begun showing the world his musical vision.

Now, exclusively for Decoded Magazine we hand over to Luuk for those essential festival tracks he would not show up without.

01. Joren Edwards – For The Terrace [Moss Co.]
One of my best friends just released a gem on Archie Hamilton’s label. When I get the chance to play a deeper set, this one is definitely in there.

02. Ben Balance – Move Them [Sukhumvit Records]
Heard this tune at Lightbox London, Pat Wilson played it. What a banger.

03. The Willers Brothers – Just Us (Rich NxT Remix) [Avotre]
I’m a big fan of Rich Nxt’s work, fat basslines and unique sounds. This record is right up my alley, love it.

04. Sweely – The Mad Jazz [Unreleased]
Sweely is one of a kind, this French guy is one of the most talented producers out there, in my opinion. All of his tracks are fire and most of his tracks remain unreleased and in full length on his Soundcloud profile. I mailed him, begging for his tracks haha. I got lucky one day and he sent me 1GB of his masterpieces!

05. Ringbaan – Eazy Jantje [Free Download]
My friends from Tilburg put out a free download E.P. on Soundcloud and this is one track I really dig.

06. ADMNTi – 0207 [4Plae records]
London based label 4Plae Records doing the bits for me lately, The whole E.P. is fire by the way!

07. Sirus Hood – Paf [Repeat After Me]
Straight up bomb by Sirus Hood. Nothing more, nothing less.

08. AJ Christou, Calob Calloway – Right Now [Celesta Records]
A proper tech house cut on AJ’s own imprint, Celesta Records. Playing this a lot!

09. Antss – Chaka Khan [Unreleased]
Antss sent me 30 of his new tunes, love them all. He hasn’t released any music yet but watch out for this guy!

10. Technotronic – Pump Up The Jam (Ejeca Remix)
Let’s close this list with a bang. Last summer I spent numerous nights at DC10 and when Jamie Jones dropped this at his Paradise night it went off! We all have our guilty pleasures and for me this is one of them ;-)
