Made in Paris is on a Mystic Path with her new label Upon Access

Late August will see Australia’s Made in Paris inaugurate her new imprint Upon Access with a two-track release entitled ‘You’re Wrong’.

Based in Sydney, Australia budding young producer Made in Paris is rapidly becoming one of the most talked about acts to come from down under. Her inimitable dark and brooding contemporary Techno style has earned her support from the likes of Nicole Moudaber, Reboot, Marco Carola and many more via releases on CRUX and Motorik. Here though we see Paris start her own venture with the launch of Upon Access, kick-starting things with some fresh material from herself.

“Getting back into the studio after my last EP, I wanted to have sheer consistency with my sound but making sure each track is fresh and unique in their own way. I feel like I did so with this EP and was so content with the outcome. It was definitely an amazing page to start the label with.” – Made in Paris

Title track ‘You’re Wrong’ takes the lead and sees Made in Paris fuse slow blooming, hypnotic bass drones with a rugged 808 rhythmic drive and electro-tinged melodies throughout, setting the tone perfectly for the exciting new imprint. While on the flip is ‘Mystic Path’ which as the name would suggest lays focus on a wandering and mysterious vibe with sweeping delayed synth leads, stabbing bass hits and meandering arpeggios while crunchy percussions further fuels the mesmeric groove.

UK Editor Simon Huxtable spoke with Paris this week about her plans for the new label and beyond.

Hi Paris, tell us about your new label – Upon Access. Is this the first time you’ve set a label up?

Upon Access is the first of many endeavours for myself. It is so exciting to create something pure to yourself that I will not only get an opportunity to share my music but also others working up some amazing tracks that are in the realm of music I’m passionate about.

We understand you’re based in Sydney and have made quite a name for yourself locally. How would you describe your style and how will it figure in your vision of the label?

My style tends to get on the darker side yet I grasp a hold of melodies that lift the mood. If you put it into genre types I would say techno and tech/deep house. Here in Sydney, there are a lot of party advocates that are really into that underground sound. We’ve decided to throw some parties in celebration for each release UA drops into the world. First party is on 19th Aug at The Burdekin, Sydney.

Can you talk us through some of the aspects of setting the label up that you weren’t aware of?

Setting up the label was pretty straight forward. We have a really tight but intimate team that not only drives the distribution, legal and actual music process but also keeps the brand and creative processes on perfect point so we can be present in music enthusiasts ears & lives. Its completely eye opening and the experience is absolutely rewarding as an artist and entrepreneur in the music industry.

The first release drops 26th August digitally, and we have a good feeling about it. But what’s next for the label? Can you give a hint on the second release?

We have already signed our next release which comes from an artist in Sydney by the name of Somersault. His work is amazing, intelligent and well rounded sonically and I am so glad to have discovered his talent. The EP is deep yet pumping tech house and is definitely one to keep an eye out for.
