Review: Mihalis Safras plays it louder

Artist: Marco Carola
Title: Play It Loud
Remixers: Mihalis Safras
Label: Circus Recordings
Released: Out Now
Genre: Tech House

Circus Recordings are a label that have consistently produced magic over the years, this time is no different. Mihalis Safras takes on mythical Marco Carola’s 2008 hit ‘Play It Loud’, which was originally released on Richie Hawtins imprint Minus Recordings.

You don’t have to be a certified tech house veteran to know just how major the original mix of ‘Play It Loud’ was and still is. Mihalis continues that legacy with a cracking remix which is sure to get the fists pumping with excitement.

It doesn’t take long to realise why this track has had an enormous amount of heavy support and why such a reputable record label took on the opportunity to expose this absolute beast of a track to the world of hungry, enthusiastic tech house fans alike.

The remix takes off in style, around 1 minute 30 seconds that fabled bassline that gripped the planet back in 2008 is brought back to life, reanimated like Frankensteins monster into an absolute, four on the floor slammer!

The catchy looping drums guided by a body of delays and reverbs, the subsonic frequencies rattling the chest and keeping us moving. The break fills the room with a mystical ambience, we know the fabled bassline is coming back to blow our socks clean off and the anticipation is unbearable. The huge kick drum comes driving back in and we are back in groove mode! This is a brilliant remix from a very talented producer and will fit seamlessly into playlists and DJ sets, no doubt. A big five thumbs up from me, one of the tunes of the summer!
