Argentinean Mike Griego is next up on the rather faultless Sudbeat imprint with two original tracks, ‘Fourth Dimension’ and ‘Detune Me’.
The first of the tracks, ‘The Fourth Dimension’ starts as we mean to continue with this release. It is a very warm techno sounding track with some intricate percussion and drums. The track undulates from its cool groove to a pad laden wash of colour via a mysterious dash of melody adding an enigmatic puzzle, before a tough slab of wonky bass catapult this gem onwards before more peaks and troughs really tease you. This really is one of those tracks that would simply get under your skin on the dance floor. Not an obvious dance floor monster but one you would certainly like to hear again after first hearing it. Solid track by a very good producer!
Next up we have ‘Detune Me’ which is a little fiercer than the opening track and certainly packs quite a punch. The track is a great driving bassline that really does dominate the track and with some clever filters added before the melody kicks it really does tease you right up until the end. When the big melody arrives during the drop the listener is presented with a great magical soundscape that would stir any dance floor into some shape throwing and random screams of appreciation.
A release where both tracks are equally as good as each other but I really don’t need to tell you that, as this is a release on Sudbeat, and surely you would expect nothing less by now. One day I may listen to a track I really don’t like on this label and that is a day I am not looking forward to.
