Night time economy employees will be a casualty of over-inflated furlough contributions

Following the delay in easing of restrictions presented by the Government on the 14th July, and subsequent letters and communication from our industry and colleagues from many other industries, the extension of relief from HMRC has not been forthcoming.

Michael Kill CEO NTIA Says:
“From tomorrow thousands of businesses within the night time economy will be required to contribute to furlough, business rates, loan repayments (CBILS/BBL) on top of standing costs for another four week period, whilst facing mounting rent debt, after being starved of revenue for over 16 months.”

“It has not been considered that the mere fact that many of the industries that have had to remain closed, will also hold the highest level of furloughed staff, therefore will be subject to the highest contributions to furlough, leaving many with difficult choices around retaining staff, contradictory to the very reason furlough was introduced.”

“Our sector is being decimated by this Government, and face a considerable battle to survive over the coming weeks, the Chancellor must provide urgent support for the sectors that have been hardest hit.”
