Omer Grinker – Where I Am Now [Parallel]

Omer Grinker is, by now, one of the main men at Parallel Records, and as such, has been a big part of the Israeli scene in recent times.  Here he pops up on the label once more a deep and emotive sound that is totally redolent of the house sounds served up by his peers including Guy J, Chaim and Guy Gerber.
‘I Feel So Good’ is a deep, hymnal number with sombre chords, lazy and romantic basslines and plenty of insular, isolated vibes. It’s produced with a tender hand whilst ‘Take Your Love’ is a slightly more optimistic cut. The chords are just as resonant, but the vocals lift spirits and the wavy elastic bassline really gets you moving.  Lastly, ‘Where I Am Now’ is like a mid point between the previous two cuts – it manages to be both dancey and direct yet serious emotive, sombre and pensive at the same time.

About the Author

A house music veteran, growing up with the sound before it was even called ‘house music’. A successful DJ and producer in his own right, an ex-label and record shop owner. It’s safe to say house and techno music has been a large part of James’ life for longer than most of today’s clubbers have been alive. Despite being a self-confessed ‘underground monkey’ James appreciates the adage ‘house is a feeling’, and that the scene is all about bringing people together no matter what sound you’re in to."
