Disclosure and Sex On Wax boss, Omid 16B gets on his winning ways yet again by releasing two tracks on his seminal label Alola, ahead of his artist album due to come out later on in the year. The first track titled “Hypercolour” is an example of high end hypnotics, such is the melancholic approach administered all over it. It’s difficult to imagine dancing to this, but of course that’s fine. With the impeccable production and instrumentalisation washing away most of the grooves, it does retain quite a bit of rhythm, in it’s fold. What it surely is, is tense, kinda cinematic with chords and serious strings. It’s squashy, dubby bass fights for attention unweildy and heavy, yet comes across as easy listening against the characteristics of of being a dance music release. No matter, it’s praise worthy.

With the second tune, “Secrets No More” Omid is in his element and sounds more like the producer we know him to be. The track expresses an absolutely fabulous sense of joie de vivre, containing tinkling bubbles and pulsing warmth. Brimming over with a chunky thudding bass line, percussive clicks, and that drummy pattern releases a fair bit of hop. A track that Djs will use as a tool, to further freaks? You bet. This one’s highly recommended.
