If someone were to ask me “what are One Records all about?”, I would direct them to this collection of tracks which perfectly captures the essence of One Records and what they stand for.
A blend of tracks featuring a 25 year influence of house music pumping through Adam Shelton’s ‘No Speak’, the hallucinogenic house sounds of Acid Mondays, ‘Spaciality’, Subb-An showing us his dynamic approach to tech house with his rolling track ‘Sun 101’ and Alex Arnout’s Chicago house influenced pearl ‘Jukka’.
It doesn’t stop there… Jack Wickham drops in with an incredible track that effortlessly gets you moving along to the beat with its intelligent and high quality production. S-Ampel’s, ‘Pedestrian’ uses a clever blend of synthesised sounds, percussive shots and a deep rumbling bass to really get the ground shaking.
Yamen & Eda make up the final track of this collection with a brilliantly funky tune in ‘Ms Dos’. The French duo certainly portray their Detroit House influences in style and cap off a wonderful album from One records.
If you are a fan of Detroit and Chicago style house, you will be a fan of this album without a doubt. If this is your first venture into that style, be prepared for the journey these 7 tracks will take you on and the inevitable feeling of satisfaction to your ears.
