Passenger made its debut last year with a boutique micro-festival in the Scottish Highlands, bringing an intimate yet ambitious spirit to the festival calendar. Tucked away in the Highland resort of Aviemore, the first edition balanced scale with substance, hosting heavyweight guests such as Scottish icons Vince Watson and Funk D’Void, alongside London underground legend Terry Francis. The result was a resounding success: stunning DJ sets across both indoor and outdoor stages, and crowds rekindling the free-spirited energy of ’89 on the banks of the River Spey.
This summer, Passenger continues its journey with a new chapter: Adventures on Arran. Moving west to the serene shores of the Isle of Arran—recently recognised as a UNESCO Geopark—the five-hundred-capacity festival blends music with the island’s rugged beauty while keeping its strong ecological ethos at the centre. Taking place over the weekend of the 6th and 7th of September, festival-goers are encouraged to immerse themselves in both the sound and the landscape, with carefully curated programming across three stages that spans house, Italo disco, and electro through to dub reggae and acoustic sessions. Musical highlights this year include a rare live performance from house aficionado Lance Desardi, a DJ set from Berlin’s Red Pig Flower, the return of Scottish techno figurehead Funk D’Void, and a set from legendary Sub Club mainstay Domenic Cappello.
Festival director Daniel Sharkey describes the vision as “encouraging people to enjoy both music and outdoor exploration” and “inspiring individuals from diverse backgrounds to connect music with nature.” With that in mind, the programme extends beyond the dancefloor: forest gatherings, beach yoga, sound baths, holistic therapies, and guided hikes all feature as part of the offering. Food and craft stalls will showcase local producers, while accommodation ranges from camping facilities at Ormidale Park to hotels around Brodick.
