Independent record label and events brand picnic reveal details of a hedonistic one day festival involving art, music and culture in East London.
The festival is giving the opportunity for local creatives and brands to collaborate and feature at one of the on-site villages, which will host live art and photography exhibitions, art installations, independent fashion brands, vinyl fairs, DJ equipment demo’s, culinary offerings and more.
Francesco Del Garda, Laurine & Cecillio, Christian AB, Hamish & Toby, Andy Luff, Truly Madly, Sugar Free are just some of the artists who will be playing across the two stages.
After creating an unforgettable and unique community spirit in 2020, beloved London label and party crew picnic had no choice but to grow the concept into something further, and develop the experience into an exploration of art, local culture and music on a grander scale, in the form of Someplace, Somewhere.
This year’s edition will be the first opportunity the event can go that step further in uniting lovers of all things music and the arts for a day of hedonistic antics in the forest. Found at the east end of the Central Line, Hainault Forest Country Park boasts 1000m2 of land, making it the perfect setting for the festival to operate in line with Covid safe regulations and to maintain distancing, picnic will be working with BioSURE UK who will be providing a full solution to ensure all COVID-19 regulatory testing processes are adhered to for the event.
The theme, goal and driving force behind this year’s Someplace, Somewhere is to “give something back” to the creative communities who have been hit the hardest from the pandemic. The picnic crew want to invite local and budding creatives to collaborate and feature their works at one of the on-site festival villages (details on how to apply and collaborate will be announced on their socials in due course for those looking to get involved on a creative level.) They are welcoming artists in all forms and creative platforms who would benefit from showcasing and selling their works at the festival.
The carefully curated musical programming draws in on Picnic residents, local heroes and international staples on the underground circuit, including Italian selector Francesco Del Garda, Slow Life duo Laurine & Cecilio, Christian AB, Truly Madly, Hamish & Toby to name a few. The heavy hitters are also joined by picnic resident and co-founder Andy Luff, a B3B between Sugar Free, Fonte & Malika as well as Herra, and a B2B between Jack Swash and Louis Jay.
In keeping with the theme of giving back to the community, picnic are proud to also be partnered with mental health charity Chasing the Stigma, who offer a multi platform service to people struggling with mental health. Their ‘Hub of Hope’ app has listings of over 1800 health services from all over the country and a website offering training courses and health advice. An on-site pop up tent will give guests an opportunity to talk face to face with their professionals who will be on hand to support people who might be in need, or perhaps just want to have a chat.
The on site festival villages will host a variety of cultural offerings such as vinyl fairs, independent fashion stalls, a popup hair salon, live art installations, sculpture and photography exhibitions, cocktail and IPA bars, new start-up food concepts and workshops, as well as much more to come from those creatives who will apply to contribute.
“Someplace, Somewhere aims to bring people together through art and music. Our diverse collaborations and bespoke tailoring for the festival will create an amazing collective vibe where some of Europe’s elite DJs and artists can join forces. Step into the unknown where music and art coincide on a parallel pathway” — says picnic co-founder Andy Luff.
