Long-time friends Frederic Moering-Sack and Christian de Jonquieres aka Piemont have one of the most outstanding discographies in the dance music world – especially when it comes to unusual and quirky tech-house. Largely on their own labels have the pair crafted bomb after bomb of the stuff and this new EP (on the With Compliments label) shows that once again the Germans are on top form.

The EP is a tale of two halves really, with different vibes offered up on the two opposing tracks. First comes the funky, tumbling drums and playful tech charm of Moonless Air. Little vocal coos and golden chords, trumpet toots and plenty of filter work make it a playful jam before the reverse cut gets much darker. Wakeful is percussive and paranoid, with a searching laser synth pulling you ever further into the mix. It’s tense, steely and perfect for dark room action. Once again then, Piemont prove themselves to be at the top of their game.

About the Author

A house music veteran, growing up with the sound before it was even called ‘house music’. A successful DJ and producer in his own right, an ex-label and record shop owner. It’s safe to say house and techno music has been a large part of James’ life for longer than most of today’s clubbers have been alive. Despite being a self-confessed ‘underground monkey’ James appreciates the adage ‘house is a feeling’, and that the scene is all about bringing people together no matter what sound you’re in to."
