Regenerate present Halloween By The Pier with headliners Russ Yallop, Greg Pidcock and Sunju Hargun

On November 8th 2014, Regenerate created history on Mumbai’s party scene with the city’s very first open-air deep house event. The bi-annual event takes place right in the heart of Mumbai city, at one of its most picturesque venues, The Bombay Presidency Radio Club pier. The Pier is a narrow stretch of land overlooking the Arabian Sea with a backdrop of the city’s most iconic landmarks, the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and the Gateway of India. All perfect accompaniments to wondrous music from some of the finest talent’s on our artist roster, and from around India. With two editions already under their belt, Regenerate has brought down some of the finest international talent such as Kevin Knapp (Hot Creations), A Guy Called Gerald & Whyt Noyz (Sci+Tec / M-Nus) as their headliners for the event.

After 2 massively successful “Pier” events in a row, Regenerate is now back, right at the start of Festival season. This time, however, they’ve added a bit of twist. They’re celebrating Halloween “By The Pier”. Their first themed pier party will have everything the pier events are widely known for, viz., the gorgeous music, the breath taking view, the dazzling surroundings, and the electric vibe, with the addition of spooky décor and production to bring in the Halloween flavour. Never before has the city seen a Halloween party celebrated at such a grand scale, and the newest edition of By The Pier intends to deliver on that very notion.

The Venue
It is common knowledge that the pier at the Bombay Presidency Radio Club is one of the city’s most breath-taking venues ever. It has played host to numerous grand occasions, from weddings to celebrations of other auspicious events. But no one had ever dared to host a festival at that divine location, least of all one that celebrated the joys of House music. That’s where Regenerate stepped in with an unheard of concept, and presented Mumbai’s most cherished treasures in a brand new light. Having succeeded twice over, and having proven themselves as out-of-the-box thinkers in the event space, they plan to take that very same venue, placed so quaintly between Mumbai’s city.

The Acts
The third edition of By The Pier comes with not 1, not 2, but 3 internationally acclaimed acts. The first act, Sunju Hargun, is a widely acclaimed DJ in Bangkok, Thailand. Having spent the past 13 years establishing a place for himself in Bangkok’s Music Scene, he’s helped some of the city’s venues like Glow Nightclub & Grease, develop into the city’s go- to underground spots. His sound drifts through dark minimal melodies to the softer side of house music. With all this experience under his belt he’s often ahead of the curve, constantly experimenting and exploring new sounds.

The second artist on offer is no stranger to the underground music scene in Mumbai. Greg Pidcock, spent most of his developmental years travelling the globe, and he’s spent a fair amount of his youth in India, having played a pivotal role in the birth of the country’s deep house scene. Pidcock joined the international scene after releasing his first single with Hot Creations in 2013. Since then he’s played at some of the leading parties in the world, including sets at DC10 in Ibiza and Detroit for the infamous Circoloco. From WMC to the BPM Festival, Greg’s colourful and playful style has been making its mark on dance floors wherever he goes.

The raw, gritty tones that characterize Greg’s music depict scenes of isolation, exploration, and a search of self. He has stayed true to his roots and continues to explore both sonic and visual mediums, sometimes decorating the entire club before his parties. Now Based between London and Montreal, Greg Pidcock’s music sheds colour and light on his journey through the unique locations and people that have shaped his life.

The third international act is Russ Yallop. While some producers spend years finding their feet, Russ blew minds away with I Can’t Wait his debut release on Crosstown Rebels, supported across the spectrum by some of the biggest acts like Jamie Jones and M.A.N.D.Y. Meanwhile, ‘Rock Me’ on the B-side was picked up by DJ Mag and featured on their ‘Best of British’ covermount compilation at the start of this year. With future releases on Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ Hot Creations, it should come as a little surprise that Russ got snapped up by ‘Ibiza Voice’ to mix a recent instalment of their hugely popular podcast series despite being relatively new to the scene. Russ Yallop’s sound is infected with warm charm and boundless energy. Fusing fun into dance music again, with his inimitable DJ Prowess and studio skills to match, Russ is the start of a promising new wave of talented artists that promise bright things for the future of the underground.
